When I took my niece to the first Hunger Games Premiere – I really thought I was having to endure another collection of movies like the Twilight Saga. The Hunger Games is not the new Twilight – Its The Hunger Games!!!

The first film is very good – but the second takes the franchise to a whole new level. With the first movie Hag waited until we felt he was mature enough to take on the material (Kidz killing Kidz – in context with the story much like Lord of the flies). I’m less concerned about Hag watching ‘Catching Fire’ as its less about Kidz. and more about adults and their survival.

Key moments to be aware of: A rather nasty public flogging, a scary scene with baboons chasing and a yucky visual effect moment with a cloud of poisonous gas – but overall I’m happy for Hag to watch it (Although it won’t be appropriate for all under 12’s – you know your own kidz and what they can handle). This film is rated 12 (12A at the cinema – meaning Kidz under 12 are aloud to watch it if a parents feels its appropriate) but to my mind this film is correctly placed within the 12A certification unlike films such as Avengers and Thor.

If I was to match it with similar 12’s for content and tone – I’d say Ironman 3 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

This new film is Epic and I strongly advice all families to jump onto the ride – its likely to be very stormy but something for generations of families to enjoy and remember for years. Highly Recommended a must see for 2013!!!
