I always like to think of Romeo and Juliet as the ‘intro play’ for Kidz interested in Shakespeare. Its a wonderful story and very easy to follow, considering the language used will initially be alien to all Kidz. It took Hag about 15 minutes to tune into the dialog and throughout my wife explained various lines (She’s a big Shakespeare fan) just in case he didn’t understand – but on the whole he followed the Romeo and Juliet really well. Shakespeare can occasionally be a little ‘fruity’ in his romance scenes – but the wedding night scene was dealt with very subtly, meaning its appropriate for Kidz to watch. Hag really enjoyed the movie and now wants to see more works by the play write. A trip to the theatre coming soon I feel!!!
