This new Ninja Turtles game takes me back to my own childhood. It echoes the styling and gameplay of the ‘Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles’ game for the Nintendo NES back in 1989. Back then I was obsessed with the incredible multiplayer Arcade game and when the home Entertainment version finally came out and it was good – but not quite as good as the Arcade game and didn’t allow multiplay. Skip forward to 2014 and my Kidz now play the Turtles games and I can sense some of my own disappointment back then in my boys today.
Last year I couldn’t get Hag and Con off the all singing all dancing (Arcade style) multiplayer game. With this new game they’re really missing playing together and finding it a little challenging. Both boys like the game – but not as much as they enjoyed the last. If they could play in a multiplayer mode I’m sure they’d be far more connected. Fans of the TV show will still want to own the new game – but a Turtles game should really have the option to have all four Turtles battling it out at the same time.
