Maleficent: Top 5 Disney Heroes

Maleficent: Top 5 Disney Heroes

5. Hercules:

He may not be the smartest of Disney heroes, nor does he have a lot of street sense… but he’s a strong lovable hero at heart! Our hero Hercules comes in at number 5, by battling monsters, Hades and the Titans, and ultimately rescuing his love Meg – making him a true hero! Swoon!

4. Prince Eric:

Coming in at number four is our hero from the Little Mermaid, Prince Eric! Apart from winning Ariel’s heart, he saves the entire ocean from Ursula’s evil power by destroying her with his ship. Or is the real hero Ariel, who saved Prince Eric from downing in the first place? You decide!

3. Beast (Prince Adam):

A controversial hero, you wouldn’t think that Beast was heroic considering his behavior before he was turned into a beast; he shunned away a beggar woman because he was so repulsed by her appearance. However, after years of living as a beast, he gradually learnt to become humble and to love. Maybe it was really Belle who was the hero here as she taught beast to be civilized and to love others….

2. Aladdin:

Originally a street rat from Agrabah, a fictional city in Jordan, Aladdin dreams of the day when he doesn’t live in squalor. He is in turn tricked by the evil Jafar to enter ‘The Cave of Wonders’ to retrieve for him, a magical lamp, under the impression he could have treasures for himself. Aladdin becomes trapped in the cave with his sidekick, Abu, and discovers the Genie, who gives him the chance to grant any 3 wishes he wants. At first he wants to award himself with all the riches in the world and the hand of Princess Jasmine. However, he learns to become less selfish and puts others first. When Jafar steals the lamp and gets three wishes of his own, Aladdin must rely on his intelligence to trick Jafar to save his friends and the Kingdom, and eventually wins the affections of Princess Jasmine anyway for his bravery.

A true hero!

1. Prince Phillip:

Our number one hero is Princess Aurora’s true love Prince Phillip from original fairy tale, ‘Sleeping Beauty’. Immediately after her birth she is betrothed to him, however, when evil fairy Maleficent arrives at her Christening uninvited, she curses Aurora with a spell – so that on her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into a sleep like death. Not only that, but the only thing that will awake her, is true loves kiss! After Prince Phillip is captured by Maleficent, he eventually defeats her guards and charges back to the Royal Palace on his steed. Maleficent then attacks the Prince, transforming herself into a dragon. Phillip slays the dragon by hurling the magic sword into her heart, and killing her. Phillip then heads into the palace and kisses Aurora. She wakes from her sleep, and guess what?! They live happily every after…

Is Maleficent as evil as the original Sleeping Beauty portrays? Find out for yourself in Disney’s retelling of the classic story where you will discover the reasons behind her wicked ways and how she eventually isn’t so bad after all…
