I was aware of the release in cinemas as it was a big release at the time, however we didn’t catch it then. It wasn’t that we didn’t want to, it’s just that we were doing other things at the time but was pleased to receive the review copy, as I imagined that A&E would like it as they’re both getting more and more into singing and dancing. They were aware of the original but only E had seen that previously, but that wasn’t really a consideration for them when approaching this re-make. The fact that it is up to date in terms of the music production and dance styles helps a new generation to appreciate the film I think and whilst I didn’t watch it with them I could tell that they really enjoyed it. The lead actress Quvezhane Wallis was an amazing discovery in Beasts of the Southern Wild so it’s good to see her going on to do more films and this surely has a positive message to convey to young people.
