I really don’t know how to emphasise what a cracking ‘Popcorn Epic’ this movie is. Its action packed from start to finish and the story and characters are as relevant today as they ever were. I grew up with the Heston version and loved it as a kid. This all singing all dancing version for a new generation is very inch as good as the last. The movie is rated 12 (12A theatrically) as there are some gripping moments – but any kidz that watch films like Star wars or Avengers should be fine. I would say 10 years old up would be the perfect age.

Hag (age 12) and Con (age 9) loved Ben-Hur. I’m not sure they’ve ever seen anything so Epic on the big screen before. Plus if you’re regular church goers like us – there’s a pretty big cameo in the story (If you don’t already know – I’m sure that’s not a spoiler these days). But its not so in your face that ‘Non-church goers’ will be put off. Such a shame it’s not been released as a 3D Blu-Ray as the chariot race was everything you could have wanted it to be in 3D. Highly Recommended!!!

Hag with Morgan Freeman (Ilderim)
