BODYGUARD: HOSTAGE – Hag talks to author Chris Bradford (For Hag’s review CLICK HERE!!!)

Would you pick being a bodyguard, being pulled from your family and pushed into dangerous missions or live your normal life?

Having trained in close protection, I know how tough it is to be a real-life bodyguard. The role is extremely demanding and exhausting, but it can also be full of excitement, exotic locations and great satisfaction if the job goes well. Given the choice… I’d prefer to stay an author protected by my two sons, Zach and Leo!

What did enjoy most writing Bodyguard Hostage or Young Samurai?

A new project is always thrilling and Bodyguard: Hostage was fantastic fun to write as well as research. Young Samurai being my first novel, though, will always have a special place in my heart. There are few things more satisfying than completing a novel and then hearing what your fans think of it.

Will there be more Bodyguard Hostage books?

There are six planned in the series. I’m currently writing book 2, Ransom. Connor’s mission is to protect the twin daughters of an Australian media mogul aboard their luxury yacht. The boat is attacked by pirates who demand a $100 million ransom for their release… but the pirates didn’t count on Connor Reeves being aboard!

Why did you call the Bodyguard Connor – is it a friend of yours?

I choose Connor because I thought it was a very strong name, a heroic name, the sort of name that belongs to a boy who is willing to fight for what is right.

Is Connor based on anyone?

Jack Fletcher from my Young Samurai books was based a lot on me and the experiences of my youth. Connor is the friend I wish I’d had around to protect me at the time.

Why did you write this book?

I wanted to write ‘an adult thriller for kids’. To produce a book that was the literary equivalent of the movies Mission Impossible, Skyfall and The Bourne Identity all rolled into one.

Is there anything you would have added to the story if you had the time again?

I have loads of cool ideas that could have gone in Hostage, but the book was already rammed with action and twists. So I decided to save these ideas for the other books in the series. Over the course of the series you’ll learn all the best skills and tactics of a professional bodyguard.

Will BodyGuard Hostage be a movie?

That’s the plan! I tend to write my books in a very filmic way. The set pieces are designed to be explosive and hopefully you’ll be able to imagine the scenes in your head just as if you were watching the story in the cinema!
