Parent View:
Our 6 year old daughter, Maya, screamed with delight when she saw Gabby. Which was strange as I don’t think she had seen her before. As soon as she could, Gabby was freed from her box, the batteries were installed (not included), and Maya began to play with the doll. Clearly Gabby has lots of things she can do, play a variety of different games including, musical statues applying her makeup, pressing her lips when they turn green to name a few. Gabby also comes with half a dozen or so attachments, including a phone, make up bag, dog, cake, drink, brush. All these when pressed to Gabby’s mouth causes a different reaction from Gabby which takes the child on an adventure and playing different games. One can down load the free App onto a phone or tablet which lets Gabby book appointments at a variety of shops, or send text messages etc. On the educational side it encourages numeracy skills and colours, but at a very basic level. If I could I would have Gabby with an English accent rather than the American one she has, and Maya would like to be able to pick what game to play with Gabby rather than always being lead by her. Maya loves playing musical statues with Gabby and it is frustrating waiting for Gabby to ask Maya to play. The doll has only been in our house a week, so it may be that one can choose what game to play, it’s just I haven’t discovered how to yet.
