Godzilla – Hag’s question for Director Gareth Edwards at the Exclusive Press Screening!!!!
I love Anime – Did you used to watch Anime when you was a Kid? (Hag age 9)
Gareth Edwards – Err…yeah….I don’t know if it comes across at all….but one of the main designers on the film, who became a good friend….called Matt. He’s from London as well. We used to always say to each other as we were designing…..if we ever got stuck, we’d go….What would AKIRA do?
And we’d get all inspired again and do these really cool drawings. So that was a big influence because AKIRA is amazing – its visually stunning..um…Ghost in the Shell and all the obvious things. Yeah they were very influential and the original…..Matt introduced me to the original AKIRA Graphic Novel’s. He said “Gareth, you’ve got to look through this!” And that was a very ‘go to’ source for us.
So..yes…most definitely..

From what I got to see of the film – its looking very ‘Jaws’ scary. Hag will love it – might be best Con seeing it on the small screen, but we’ll see nearer the time. Think its going to be cracking though!!!
