Gravity (2D/3D)

Gravity (2D/3D) review by Hag

Available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray and Download 3/3/14 (12) 5 Stars

Parent View:
“Gravity is AWESOME!” – Hag’s first words after watching the movie in the lounge on our 3D TV. Ignoring the one use of very strong language (which of course you can’t as a parent) – Gravity is pretty tame for a 12 rated movie. Aside from the one swear word – I’d be happy for this being a PG. Its a dramatic space adventure with lots of explosive moments. I would say – a child 9 years or above would be fine with it. As always – you know your own child and what they can handle. Hag was fine watching Gravity and really enjoyed it!!!

3D Blu-Ray Review:
I’ll be honest when I watched Gravity at the cinema I wasn’t too impressed with the 3D. The problem with 3D is ghosting is always there – but it always stands out far more with dark backgrounds. Gravity if set completely in space – you don’t get much darker than that.

With the 3D Blu-ray the 3D is much crisper – and although there are a few moments of ghosting overall its a much better presentation of 3D than the theatrical version. Home 3D is always far better than that of the cinema I find. Gravity is full of nice shots with floating objects and sunlight hitting the screen plus in the moments it all kicks off – expect everything you can possibly imagine coming through your screen.

Stand out 3D moments – the opening view of the earth (just beautiful), fixing the shuttle, Fire on the space station, George Clooney coming into the space pod, Attempting to land on earth (No Spoilers).

Award winning Gravity, which added 7 Oscars to its tally of 6 BAFTAs including Best British Film on Sunday evening, can now also boast being the fastest selling 3D title ever. Released on Monday on Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray™ and DVD, Gravity recorded the highest ever first day of sales beating the previous record holder Prometheus into second place.
