Jupiter Ascending (2D/3D)

Jupiter Ascending (2D/3D) review by Hag and Jonathan

Out on DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray 29/6/15 (12) Jonathan 3 Stars/ Hag 4 Stars

Parent View:
We do love a bit of Sci-Fi at Kidzcoolit HQ – and Jupiter Ascending makes for a really good afternoon in for the family. Its all a bit barmy and as Jonathan said the story is a bit confusing at times – but never boring with some wonderful action sequences. It may be Marmite to some Kidz, but if you love the original Flash Gordon film – its pretty much a new version. Neither Hag nor Con moved throughout the film and enjoyed every minute. Especially the Hover Boots!!!!

3D Blu-Ray Review:
We were very lucky to see Jupiter Ascending originally on the huge IMAX screen so it hard to compare that experience against a smaller screen version. That said the 3D converts really well and due to loads of really elaborate special effects this film if best seen as it was originally intended in 3D.

The alien world landscape shots are just beautiful and full of depth. Space sequences are always a winner in 3D – although the dark backdrop can sometimes show up ghosting at times. As for objects appearing from the screen – you name it, it comes out. I particularly like the bees. Highly recommended for the 3D Sci-Fi collection.

Stand out 3D moments – The Bees, Canine floating in Space. Wedding Space battle, Jupiter and Balem floating through the crumbling ship, finale escape and anything using hover boots (We love those boots!!!).
